LO4 Production construction
For my audio-visual product I gathered information on the content contained in other promotional videos. I did this by doing a content analysis on the conventions contained in a professional promotional video, when analysing the videos, I made sure to go in-depth with the conventions of the video including mise-en-scene, camerawork, sound and editing techniques. This then also includes the locations, costumes and characters involved in the video to create the finished product. From the information I gathered from my research I realised that specifying the courses that I would be promoting in the video. From the research I gathered I managed to get ideas for the content contained yo create a successful promotional video. The purpose of my video is to promote the media course at Doncaster UTC, in the video I aim for the audience to feel comfortable, encouraged to consider the college and for them to feel that at this college students get the best possible outcome from their years at the college. In the video there is footage of different locations of the UTC building with interviews with certain teachers and clips of employers working with students. The main aim for this video is to educate the audience on the opportunities that are related to the UTC experience, this then hopes to encourage the audience to join the UTC.
When filming the video, I had to consider the camera angles and movements, I took inspiration from the analysis I did on another promotional video. To break the video up making it more interesting I included different camera angles and settings with different camera movements so than the video is interesting and gives the audience the impression that the college is to a good standard. When the interviews where filmed the camera was angled so that the person that was getting interviewed wasn't looking at the camera, this then creates the more professional appeal to the video. This video is like the video that I analysed for I edited the examples I gathered in my research and created my own version of it, which was then used in the final video I created. For example, I made sure to add interviews with students and teachers, this then shows the audience first-hand answers from students related to questions that would be useful for them if they chose to attend in the future. I also then used a suitable background sound for the video, this then made the video more interesting and gave the video a good atmosphere, which then shows how the college also relates to the background music because it would be a robotics sound. From the analysed video I then used the editing techniques that they used to create my video.
